Commercial Hitching Adaptations Resource SheetOverview:Normally, whenever farm equipment needs to be connected or disconnected from tractors, self-propelled units, trucks, etc., an individual is required to position themselves in between the equipment being connected or disconnected. This poses a danger to the individual for being pinched between the equipment, getting a hand crushed, or possibly run over. Several types of commercial hitch adaptations are available which are designed to automate or "quicken" the hitching process without the need for an individual to place themselves in danger, especially when connecting to the drawbar only. Who benefits:Individuals with physical disabilities which might make getting into and out of a tractor, a self-propelled unit or truck very difficult, individuals with back or spinal cord injuries, with muscle weakness, chronic back pain, amputations, poor eye-to-hand coordination, visual impairments, balance difficulties, and arthritis. Commercial Hitching Adaptations Resources:Draw Bar Hitch AdaptationsAttach-Matic, Inc. The Attach-Matic fits most makes and models of tractors, harvesters, farm wagons and four wheels trailers. Hooking and unhooking of wagons and trailers is done directly from the driver's seat. Agri-Speed Hitch The Agri-Speed Hitch makes light work of hooking and unhooking farm equipment directly from the driver's seat. Stafast Hitch The Stafast Hitch uses springs to hold the wagon tongue horizontal while a receiver aligns itself when backing up for automatic hitching. Anderson Machine, Inc. The Anderson Torpedo Hitch makes hooking up to any equipment both speedy and with less exertion. Twelve volt electric, manual, or hydraulic winch models are available. Three Point Hitch AdaptationsBubco Incorporated The Triangle quick-hitch helps to make changing implements safe, fast, and easy. You no longer have to dismount the tractor and wrestle with heavy equipment. Freedom Hitch, Midwest
Industries, Inc. The Freedom Hitch allows you to change implements without leaving your tractor seat. Jiffy Hitch Systems
Inc. Jiffy Hitch was developed to allow an easier and safer way to hook up a tractor to a three point implement. Other Three Point "Quick Hitches"Several companies, including some of the major agricultural equipment manufacturers, offer what are called quick hitches. This style of hitch mounts on the tractor three point hitch and allows the operator to attach and secure equipment from the tractor seat. Some of the companies with quick hitches are listed below. You may also wish to contact your local agricultural equipment dealer to find out what they offer.
Other Connection or Coupler AdaptationsSchumacher USA The Easy Connect Male Hydraulic Coupler fits into any standard female end and uses a pressure relief valve in the male tip to facilitate easier connection even when under pressure. Parker Hannifin Corporation,
Pioneer Quick Couplings By using a value to relieve back pressure, Pioneer Connect-Under-Pressure couplings allow operators to more easily insert the hose into the receiver whenever hydraulic lines need to be connected or disconnected. Rowe Manufacturing, Inc.
Hydra-Grips are plastic grips that resemble the handlebars on a bicycle and are fastened around the hydrualic hose ends with machine screws. The grips increase the diameter of the hoses ends, making them easier to grasp.
